Buffyverse
Voices of the Dead (The Truth and the Lies Remix)
Gen; PG-13
In the immediate aftermath of "Not Fade Away," everything is so very, very bleak. Angel is the POV character here, and Anon has very cleverly draped his post-apocalyptic existence over the framework of one of the best speeches in all Buffydom: Giles in the graveyard at the end of "Lie to Me." Very, very well done.
Not Really Here (The 'Stand in the Place Where You Are' Mix)
Gen (background Spike/Dru); PG
And long before anyone named Dawn Summers ever draws a breath, Drusilla's imaginary friend is a beautiful little girl named Dawn. I adore fics about Dawn's Keyness, about the way Time has to just break around her--fracture into all these bits that weren't and yet are. This is so very, very lovely.
BSG
Close For Comfort (the Getting Some Distance remix)
Adama/Tigh, Kara/Lee; PG-13
I feel like Anon took a peek inside my head and wrote what ze found there. While I believe very deeply that Saul loves Ellen and Bill loves Laura, I also deeply believe that Saul loves Bill and Bill loves Saul. The voices here are just perfect. Maybe Lee doesn’t understand his father’s relationship with Saul Tigh because Lee's never had a war buddy. Or because his war buddy is Starbuck and the rules are different for a guy and a girl. Maybe he and Kara are exactly the same as his dad and Tigh, and that's not a road Lee is prepared to go down right this minute.
Narnia
if the story is true
Susan-centric gen; PG
This story is about a Susan who knows she has been rejected, who feels that bitter sting keenly. This is a Susan who is alone in a sea of siblings. My heart aches for her as it always does.
Once a Queen (The Reality Bites Remix)
Susan-centric gen; PG
I love this psychoanalysis of Susan, this exploration of why living in and believing in Narnia does not come so effortlessly to her. I very much like that her survival is not the condemnation that it is in the books but that it still remains terribly and cruelly unfair. Excellent read.
Visions of the Sea
Lucy-centric gen; PG
I really like this look at Lucy's last journey into Narnia. I haven't read the original story, but I've interpreted the remix as this being Lucy's death and her entrance into Aslan's kingdom. I love the glimpses of Susan here and of Lucy's desires for a future that will never be.
Farscape
Fool's Gold at the End of Gravity's Rainbow (The Tarnish Transmutation)
John/Aeryn; PG-13
In this story, Aeryn is detained on Earth and subjected to ever-increasingly horrible treatment. But just when the reader is ready to curl up in Aeryn's plexiglass cell and die, John comes for her. Because he always, always, always comes for her. *sniffle*
Firefly
Five Sharp Points [The Healing Remix]
River-centric gen; PG
I love this narrative of healing for them all in the aftermath of Miranda, how hard-won that peace is and the family it makes of them.
Wife Soup (The Best Served Hot Remix)
Zoe/Wash; PG
I love this look at Zoe's relationship and how the rest of the crew pitches in to help her make something special for Wash. Really nice slice of life on Serenity.
Good Omens
All Hellhounds Go to Heaven (The Warp and Woof Remix)
Aziraphale/Crowley; PG-13
I sincerely love this story. It's beautifully written, full of wry humor and poignancy as all every Good Omens fic should be. It's about Aziraphale and Crowley trying to keep the balance and in their failure, the ineffable nature of miracle.
Going Under (the Dante Wrote The Book But Forgot To Look remix)
Gen; PG
Haven't you always wanted to read a story where Aziraphale rambos down into hell to save Crowley? Well, lay on MacDuff. :)
Messenger of Sympathies (The Rounded with Sleep Remix)
Aziraphale/Crowley, Aziraphale/Shelley; PG-13
I love the idea of Aziraphale falling in love with Shelley and seeing what he loved in that man also in Crowley. Very nicely done.
No Other End of the World (The Angelic Footnotes Remix)
Gen; PG-13
This is brilliantly done. The voices are pitch perfect, the footnotes hilarious. When another apocalypse threatens, Aziraphale and Crowley take matters into their own hands. I have a feeling I know who wrote this little gem.
Glee
Dictionaries For Dummies (Sexicon Remix)
Santana/Brittany; Adult
I love the relationship between Santana and Brittany that we get in canon, and this exploration of that is really really nice. It's structured around words that Brittany doesn't know that culminate in steamy encounters in the library, and it is really, really hot.
the boys are calling for me (the history boys remix)
Kurt/Blaine; Adult
I adore the idea of Kurt and Blaine having always been at Dalton in these beautiful AUs of what might have been between them at different points in history. I love the frank look here at class and at war and the wonderful contrast between those eras and the Kurt and Blaine of 2012. I think this is my favorite of the fest so far.
In the Darkness There is Light
Puck/Lauren; PG
Okay, I lied. *This* is my favorite fic so far. I love this examination of Puck and Lauren's relationship and what they each get from it. Excellent characterization.

Date: 2011-05-08 03:46 am (UTC)Please pardon the anon author drive-by comment.
Date: 2011-05-08 03:20 am (UTC)It's really not gen, though, it's Aziraphale/Crowley slash, straight up. More explicitly so than the story I remixed.

Date: 2011-05-08 03:45 am (UTC)And so it is. :)
I have been trying like the dickens to read through the fest before the reveal, and clearly, my scribbled notes for a rec got sloppy on this one.
It is a magnificent story despite my blunder. :)
